Tendonitis is your body’s way of telling you to STOP putting so much stress and pressure on your body. Tendons are connective tissues that hold muscles to bones. When muscles expand, tendons react causing bones to move. The tissue will fix itself quickly if the damage is slight or happens only sometimes. But pain can become constant if the damage happens often.

  1. Forceful or violent motions (example can be boxing or throwing a fastball)
  2. Unnatural motions( like serving a tennis ball)
  3. Poor body mechanics or technique when doing an activity like aerobics, lifting weights, or painting the ceiling

Tendonitis is something I have been currently dealing with, and if I can give any advice it would be to take rest and don’t fight through any pain in your tendons. It is important to take rest days as much as it is to go to the gym. It will set you back for an even longer period of time.

  1. Bring your own gym mat: Gym mats are highly infested with germs. The best way to avoid these germs is to bring your own mat and sanitize it after use.
  2. Wash your hands regularly: Machines and weights are constantly touched by members in the gym. Therefore, germs are spread easily. To avoid this, wash your hands with soup and water, or use hand sanitizer, before and after the gym.
  3. Avoid touching your face: Hands get in contact with the most germs from touching weights and machines. It is important to avoid touching your face while at the gym.
  4. Disinfect your gym bag: Gym bags are usually placed on the floor of gyms. These bags come in contact with various germs throughout the week. It is crucial to spritz disinfectant spray on your bag regularly to avoid germs.
  5. Drink water from a reusable bottle: Germs can easily spread from the water foundations in the gym. Therefore, bring your own water bottle to avoid these viruses.

1.Your muscles grow when you rest. When lifting weights you are tearing muscle fibers. Rest days are crucial for these fibers to repair and become even larger. The strength is not being built during exercising, but on off days. When you are sore and body feel fatigue, it is important to listen to your body and make sure you get the rest you need. 

2. Rest days boost your motivation and drive.When you are fully rested and have fueled your body, your energy and motivation becomes even stronger. If you are at the gym everyday you may start to become used to the same routine.
